Shower drain

The first plan of attack in creating a shower stall involved the most crucial component, the the drain.  Ya gotta have a drain!

The original tub drain dropped down below the slab foundation and connected to it's original P-Trap with some compression rings.  Once the tub was removed the only component left in the ground was the P-Trap and the riser that connected to the drain lines leading to the main drain.
There's actually two p-traps there in the dirt.
One for the tub guest bath tub and one from the
master bath tub
In looking at the necessary components to create a shower drain, it was clear the existing drain was not going to extend far enough or deep enough into the shower stall area to be useful.

Well, no one said it was going to be easy....

The upside...
There's already a nice hole in the slab.

The downside...
I had no immediate clue on how best to approach the matter.

I knew the answer would come eventually so I opted to contemplate it for a while and moved on to framing out the stall based upon my observations in the Florida hotel room.
