The first surprise I found upon entering the Round House via the front door is that what I thought to be the front door (with doorbell) is not really the front door at all.
Well, it is...but then again, it isn't....
The 'front' door actually enters the garage. Really! Go through that door and you are IN the garage. Not exactly what you expect when you ring the doorbell and are ushered into the house. Very odd indeed!

Upon closer inspection, an unexpected revelation! The garage is not original to the house! What was original to the house was a large over-sized two car carport.
Someone, decades ago, enclosed the center of the carport with hardy board converting it to a one car garage with access from the street. That left two odd shaped covered "porches" on either side of the garage, one side of which did not have access from the house or garage and didn't seem to have any purpose other than possibly an ill fitting carport. It was just 'there'.

As near as I can tell, originally cars were to park across the front of the house under the carport entering one side and exiting the other. If there ever was a driveway there, it seems all traces of it have disappeared, lost to time and non-use.
So then.....What's that door there?
It's the original entry door to the house still there in its original state. It opens to a long entry hall leading to the center core of the home.....and to that incredibly butt ugly color scheme.
